BMW Group (BMW and MINI combined) said Tuesday that U.S. car sales rose 17.5 percent year-on-year in October to 27, 288 vehicles, an increase of from the 23,222 vehicles sold in the same month a year ago.
Sales of BMW brand vehicles increased 13.5% in October for a total of 21,873 compared to 19,272 vehicles sold in October, 2010.
BMW sold 7,748 of its 3 Series cars, though that was down 9.1 percent from 8,520 in the same month last year.
The best performing vehicles in October were the X3 SAV up 2,244% to 2,321 units, the new 6 Series up 762.5% to 414 units and the BMW X5 SAV, up 25.6% to 3,997 units.
In addition, demand for the 5 Series mode rose 2.4 percent to 5,044 units.
