The British based automaker McLaren has officially announced its plans to develop two new models which will be added to the Sports Series range.
The recently introduced Sports Series range is making the McLaren vehicles more affordable but this is not the carmaker’s main goal because exclusivity does pay indeed. However, a recent announcement is telling us that two new models will be added to the Sports Series range, which is currently including two vehicles, the 540C and the 570S.
“Looking forward, this percentage is expected to be maintained in 2015 as the company continues development of its model range. Crucial to this is the new Sports Series. The 570S Coupé is the first model and was revealed at the beginning of April 2015 at the New York Auto Show. This has already been followed by a second, the 540C Coupé, which was launched a few weeks later in Shanghai. Together they take McLaren into a new segment and put the brand within reach of a whole new audience. A second body-style will be introduced in 2016 followed by another in 2017, by which time the Sports Series is forecast to more than double the production output of McLaren Automotive to around 4,000 units per annum”, says McLaren in its press release.
The second body style of the new McLaren Sports Series is believed to be the 570S Spider and this might also be joined by a 570S Gran Turismo. Keep in mind that the company hasn’t confirmed these two models exactly so at this time, everything is possible. An older report was indicating that the McLaren 540C will remain the entry-level model, so don’t expect an even cheaper addition to the range.
