The Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport has been officially unveiled, over the web for the moment, as it will be debuting at the 2015 Worthersee in just a day.
Following the sneak preview released just a few days ago, the brand new Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport is being placed into the spotlights once again, this time with the carmaker finally pulling the wraps off its body. The model in question has been designed to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Golf GTI and it is coming in a 3-door body style, with a more aggressive body which will be carried over to the production version planned for next year. The vehicle is getting the 19-inch alloy wheels but the road-going will be coming with the 18-inch set, along with the Oryx White body and the black roof.
The most powerful variant of the Golf GTI, currently offered for sale, is packing the 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine under its hood, which is capable of putting down 230 HP (169 kW). The Golf GTI Clubsport is even more powerful as it is getting the same engine but upgraded to 265 HP (195 kW), enough for just about everything but still less than the R. The concept has a 6-speed DSG, along with an electronically controlled XDS differential, but the production variant is believed to get the 6-speed manual transmission. The Golf GTI Performance can reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.4s and it has an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph), but the production Golf GTI Clubsport will be even faster.
