Oldest running car was sold for 4.62 million USD image

A few weeks back we presented to you the world’s oldest running car which was supposed to be auctioned for 1.6 million British pounds but the incredible vehicle is making our news once again after it managed to gather a total amount of 4.62 million USD at the auction organized by the RM Auctions.

“We were honored to have been entrusted with the sale of this most important motor car from the renowned collection of the late Mr. John O’Quinn. The world’s leading automotive collectors recognized the incredibly rare opportunity the sale represented, as was reflected in the spirited bidding and impressive result”, said the RM Auction chairman and founder, Rob Myers, after the sale.

De Dion Tricycle has been made back in 1884 and the 127 year old vehicle holds some medals like the one from the 1997 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. The De Dion Tricycle is pretty exclusive because only 20 units were ever made out of which only six are still alive today.

The 127 year old car was built several years before Henry Ford made his first car and it can hit a top speed of only 38 mph or 61 km/h.
