Opel Adam crossover planned for 2014 image

Opel is planning to unveil a production crossover based on the Adam which should make its way onto the market sometimes next year.

The German based automaker Opel has some big plans for its future models and one of these vehicles will give birth to a whole new crossover. The announcement hasn’t been made official just yet but according to a recent report, published by Automotive News, the company will develop a crossover based on the Adam. Our source is also saying that this will actually be the production version of the Adam Rocks Concept, which has been unveiled during the Geneva Motor Show.

The styling of the new Opel Adam-based crossover will include some plastic body cladding and an increased ride height. These changes and the overall vehicle are believed to “steal” some of the customers of the VW Cross Up! or the Fiat Panda 4×4. As for the engine lineup, the standard units from the Adam will be carried over to the crossover, and this will include the 70 HP (51 kW) 1.2 liter, the 87 HP (64 kW) and 100 HP (74 kW) 1.4 liter, or even the new three-cylinder 1.0 SIDI Turbo, with its 115 HP (85 kW) and 166 Nm (122 lb-ft) of torque. More details on the Opel Adam crossover will be announced in 2014.
