Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reported that Opel unit aims to sell its cars for the first time under the Opel brand outside Europe.
Opel, will begin selling its models in China this year, followed by Australia, the newspaper cited Reilly as saying in a story to be published tomorrow. Opel aims to enter five new markets outside Europe, including two in Latin America, the newspaper said.
‘We will begin this year with sales in China,’ the German-language daily quoted Opel boss Nick Reilly as saying.
So far, offered by Opel cars outside of Europe only GM brands such as Buick.
According to Autonews, In China, Opel could benefit from the strong image of German products and appeal to different buyers than GM’s Chevrolet and Buick brands that are already sold in the world’s largest auto market, he said.
