The new generation of the Opel Astra is getting ready to be launched on its local market.
Originally shown a few months back and then debuting at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, the 2016 Opel Astra is now getting ready to be launched on its local market, Germany. The popular compact car will be coming, in its most affordable version, with a 1.4 liter 100 PS petrol engine under its hood, priced from 17,260 euros, VAT included. This basically means that the new one is priced at exactly the same as the previous entry-level model.
The 2016 Opel Astra K is also bringing a three-cylinder 1.0 liter EcoTec with 105 HP direct injection turbo which, combined with the Easytronic 3.0 automated manual transmission, is allowing the model to emit just 96 g/km of CO2 and to burn 4.2L / 100km of fuel (67.2 mpg UK / 56 mpg US). This version is available from 17,960 euros. Opel is bringing another new engine to the lineup as well, the 1.4 liter EcoTec direct injection turbo, with either 125 PS or 150 PS, eating as low as 4.9 L / 100 km of fuel.
As far as the diesel lineup goes, the cheapest one, the 1.6 liter CDTI with 95 HP, is starting from 20,260 euros. This engine is also available with 110 PS or 136 PS but the 110 PS variant is the most economical one, as it is returning 3.4L / 100km (83 mpg UK / 69.1 mpg US) and it is emitting 90 g/km of CO2. Transmission options available for the new Astra K include the five-speed manual, six-speed manual, the automated manual Easytronic 3.0 and the six-speed automatic.
