Opel has recently confirmed that the Astra OPC hot hatch will make its public debut in Australia at the 2012 Sydney Motor Show.
According to the German based automaker, the Opel Astra OPC will go against models like the RenaultSport Megane Trophee, the Subaru WRX or the Volkswagen Scirocco R in Australia but details like its price list or options will be announced close to its launch.
“Australia has a long history of, and passion, for performance vehicles. Since launch we’ve continually been asked if and when OPC is coming and we are very excited to confirm that the Astra OPC will be in Sydney next week and will be available in our showrooms next year”, said the Opel Australia official, Bill Mott.
The 2013 Opel Astra OPC is powered by a 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine which is producing a total output of 280 HP and 400 Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed manual transmission. Other performance enhancements include the Brembo braking system, the mechanical limited slip differential, the mechatronic FlexRide chassis system and more. In standard, the Opel Astra OPC is being offered on the Old Continent with tinted rear windows, rear park assistant, LED rear lamps, two-zone automatic air conditioning, Navi 600 navigation system, adaptive forward lighting, on-board computer and 19-inch lightweight OPC alloy wheels.
