The Opel Insignia will receive the HiPerStrut suspension system for the front-wheel drive versions too, but only as an optional.
The HiPerStrut suspension system was only offered on the 4×4 BiTurbo version of the Opel Insignia before but now the suspension will be available on other engine options too and also along with the front-wheel drive variants. According to the guys at autocar.co.uk, Opel can get more money from the development of the HiPerStrut by offering the suspension on other versions too. The HiPerStrut suspension is offering a higher level of maneuverability compared to a standard MacPherson suspension thanks to its configuration.
Besides the HiPerStrut suspension system which will become available on front-wheel drive versions of the Insignia, the German based automaker Opel has also brought us with one of the most interesting variants of the model, the bi-turbo diesel, which made its official debut in late last year. The Opel Insignia BiTurbo diesel is equipped with the 2.0 liter CDTI engine, which is producing a total output of 195 horsepower and it has a peak torque of 400 Nm. The model needs 8.7 seconds to reach 100 km/h from a standstill and it can go up to 230 km/h. The version can also be equipped with AWD.
