Opel introduces not so sportive Astra OPC Line Sport Pack image

The German automaker has been using the influence of the OPC name to sell OPC Line packages for quite a while and now their latest creation – the Astra K – has received the goodies.

The Astra line doesn’t even have a warm GSi version out yet, never mind the hot OPC model – so the owners might want to look at the new OPC Line Sport Pack – even though, unfortunately, it doesn’t come with any sort of mechanical enhancements. The new option is €1,150 at home in Germany and only has design tweaks to talk about. The front end includes a new bumper with large vents and numerous horizontal lines instead of the fog lights. The side comes with new sills, while the back also has a new bumper to showcase, complete with vertical lower lights. Opel says the front apron, side sills, and the rear apron lip are a matching color to the body – which in turn is offered with six metallic hues or two brilliant lacquers.

The new OPC Line Sport Pack is available with any of the model’s engines but only if buyers select the Active, Dynamic, or Innovation trim levels. The more aggressive body kit is a nice fit, but we’re all waiting for the real showstoppers. The GSi is expected to pack an updated 1.6-liter turbo with more than the 200 horsepower offered by any Astra on sale today. The OPC is also expected in 2017 with 280 hp (209 kW) under the hood.
