Opel has named Peter Christian Küspert, a former Daimler executive, to be a Board Member for Sales and GM Europe Vice for President Sales and Aftersales beginning November 1st.
Peter Christian Küspert will replace Duncan Aldred, who served as Acting GM Euriope Vice President for Sales and Aftersales and who will take the role of Chairman and Managing Director of Opel’s Vauxhall British brand.
Küspert joined Daimler in 1990 where he worked until 2009 having various positions including Head of Sales and Marketing Germany for the Mercedes-Benz, Smart and Maybach brands. He also served as Managing Director of automotive industry supplier Johann Hay Automobiltechnik.
“Strengthening Opel and Vauxhall is a top priority for GM,” said GM Vice Chairman Steve Girsky, who also is Opel Supervisory Board chairman, in a statement. “And with the sales expert Peter Christian Küspert, we will bring additional momentum to this offensive. With Duncan Aldred’s focus now solely on Vauxhall and the UK market, this further demonstrates our commitment to win in Europe.”
In April, Opel named Ulrich Schumacher as the automaker’s human resources and labor relations boss. He replaced Holger Kimmes, 54, who left Opel. Opel Supervisory Board Chairman Steve Girsky expects Ulrich to lead the automaker to its former strength.
