Despite struggling with several thousand unsold vehicles of the previous generation, the 2016 Chevrolet Volt has opened its order books in the United States recently. According to the car manufacturer, the model is available for order in California starting with the 28th of May but for people living in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island and Vermont, they will have to wait until the 27th of August to place an order for the “green” vehicle.

The reservations for the rest of the nation will begin on the 1st of October. Before the federal or state incentives, the model will start at 33,170 USD, plus the 825 USD destination charge, but after these, customers will pay as low as 24,99 USD. The 2016 Chevrolet Volt is making use of a 1.5 liter four-cylinder range extender, producing 101 HP (75 kW), which is working together with a 149 HP (111 kW) and 398 Nm (294 lb-ft) of torque. The battery takes 13 hours to recharge from a 120V outlet and 4.5h using a 240V outlet and it is estimated that the car can travel up to 1,000 miles (1,600 km) or more between fill-ups.
