Order books opened for the VW Touran in Germany image

Volkswagen has announced the launch of the brand new Touran on its local market, where the MPV starts at 23,350 euros.

The 2016 Volkswagen Touran can now be ordered on its domestic German market as the carmaker has recently announced. The new generation of the MPV has a starting price of 23,350 euros and it has been officially presented to the public last month, during the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. The people carrier is bringing a total boot volume of 743 liters in the five-seat configuration but it can also be equipped, optionally, with two extra seats. VW says that all versions of the Touran get the new fold-flat seat system for increased functionality and practicality and this includes the second row of seats too which can be folded down.

The brand new Volkswagen Touran is now 62 kg lighter than its predecessor and it is riding on the MQB platform, used on a lot of vehicles made under the close watch of the Volkswagen Group. The MPV has up to 19 percent better fuel economy than its predecessor and this is happening thanks to the improved aerodynamics, to the lighter weight and also to the fuel-efficient engines. As far as the unit lineup goes, this includes the 108 HP and 148 HP two turbocharged TSI petrol burners, along with the 108 HP and 148 HP TDI diesels. Later on the 178 TSI and the 187 TDI will be introduced too. The start/stop and energy recuperation systems are offered as standard. Deliveries will begin this September in Europe.
