Just 106 units of the Porsche 904 GTS were ever produced and this 1964 model year build is entirely original and now going under the hammer for the highest bidder.
Classic Porsches are all the hype right now, so this rare and beautiful 904 GTS is a legendary acquisition anyway you look at it. It was manufactured in very short numbers in 1964 and 1965, the 904’s true life was the track air. This particular example has seen the circuit more than once and now is ready to go up for auction as part of the Bonhams Scottsdale Car Week event. This is an entirely original car from the body, to the engine, to the interior – the ladder chassis, fiberglass body, and 2.0-liter 177-horsepower (131-kilowatt) flat-four being the stuff of legends.
Number 98 of just 106 ever built, this example was sent new to Brumos Porsche in Jacksonville, Florida and was subsequently acquired by a famous Porsche collector in Europe later on – residing there for almost three decades. Coming out of hiding – most likely a climate-controlled garage – the example will cross the auction block on January 19th, 2017.
