Overdrive beautifully restores a 1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SL image

Although from Bulgaria, the Overdrive tuner has been known for some over the top beautiful restoration jobs on retro models. Now they are back with an equally impressive program on a 1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SL.

After revitalizing a Jaguar XJ220 at the beginning of the year, Overdrive has returned with this fresh program for the classically elegant 280SL – the body has received an attractive candy apple red paint job, while the interior cabin has been completely reworked – maintaining though the 70s theme. They changed the dashboard, door panels, added leather seats and also made other minor modifications to create a very special look.

The Bulgarian tuner treated and processed the wood in several stages and after application they hand-polished the surfaces to maintain the car’s classic appearance. A new but retro-looking audio player with support for CD and MP3 replaced the stock radio and they also made all the technical revisions needed for the car to function without problems. Also, the gearbox was tweaked to make sure changing gears is done smoothly even after its more than 40 years of use.
