Owl in Central Florida Gets Stuck Behind SUV Grille After Colliding With the Vehicle

A Great Horned Owl from central Florida got stuck behind a SUV’s grille after it collided with the vehicle.

The SUV driver was heading south on the Florida Turnpike when he hit a Great Horned Owl. Although he driver was guilt-stricken for killing the bird, somehow the unharmed owl managed to fly under the SUV and become lodged under the grille. The next day, a family discovered the bird inside the SUV after noticing its enormous yellow eyes behind the grille.

“I was driving about 60 miles per hour, and he never moved. And so I said, ‘Oh my god, I hit a bird!’ And I felt so bad, but it was very dark. And I didn’t pull over,” said driver Sonji Coney Williams.

Williams felt relieved the following day when a family told her there were two enormous tallow eyes staring from behind her SUV’s grille. After discovering the bird, Williams quickly called wildlife service officials, who recued the owl and released into the wilderness.
