The public debut of the brand new entry-level sedan made by Jaguar, the XE, has been made recently during the French automotive event.
The 2014th edition of the Paris Motor Show has seen the public debut of the Jaguar XE. The model in question is the company’s newest creation and it is targeting models such as the BMW 3-Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Audi A4, Cadillac ATS and so on. The cheapest version will be the SE which will get the satellite navigation system, the multi function leather wrapped steering wheel, DAB radio, cloth seats, glossy black trim, 17-inch rims and so on.
This will be followed by the Prestige, with its added blue ambient lighting, leather seats, heated front seats, aluminum inserts and others. The Portfolio will be the next one in the lineup, coming with two-tone instrument panel, aluminum trim, Windsor leather, bi-xenon headlights, LED daytime running lights, 10-way electrically adjustable front seats and 18-inch alloy wheels. The R-Sport will be adding the 18-inch wheels, bi-xenon headlights with LED DRLs, sports suspension system, glossy black window surrounds, chromed side vents and other while the range topper S will be getting the 19-inch rims, glossy black center console, a beefier body and a supercharged V6 engine under its hood.
Other goodies offered to the new Jaguar XE include the head-up display, the 8-inch touch screen infotainment system which has support for Android and iOS apps, a forward facing stereo camera which is providing a 3D view of the road, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, semi-automated park assist system and others.
The XE will be powered by a 163 HP (120 kW) and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque 2.0 liter Ingenium turbo diesel, by a 180 HP (132 kW) and 430 Nm (317 lb-ft) of torque from a 2.0L turbo diesel, by a petrol 2.0L turbocharged 200 HP (147 kW) and 280 Nm (206 lb-ft) of torque or with 240 HP (177 kW) and 340 Nm (250 lb-ft) of torque. The 3.0L V6 offered in the range topper is rated at 340 HP (250 kW) and 450 Nm (331 lb-ft) of torque. The 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in this version takes 4.9 seconds and top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph). Prices for the Jaguar XE in the UK will start at 26,995 GBP.
