The genre bender has returned this year with a second generation and now BMW has officially presented to the European public the all-new X6 crossover during the Prais Motor Show.
The model will only reach dealerships this December, in time to show off its all-wheel drive abilities around the Christmas tree, but rest assured – the original recipe, more style than substance, has been kept and even refined. There are new aerodynamic tweaks that should make the two-tonne plus behemoth a little more efficient and the buyer has even more equipment available.
The cabin has been enhanced, mirroring the one on the new generation X5, featuring the iDrive infotainment system with displays up to 10.25-inch. There are numerous other amenities, such as a dual zone climate control system, center console-mounted kneepads or a sport steering wheel.
There will be some powerful engines at launch – the xDrive 50i gets the 4.4-liter TwinPower Turbo V8 engine making 450 PS (330 kW) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque. The xDrive 30d caters for diesel users and makes do with a 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder diesel engine with 258 PS (190 kW) and 560 Nm (413 lb-ft) of torque. The most powerful option would be, of course, the M50d with a tri-turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder that gives 381 PS (280 kW) and 740 Nm (545 lb-ft) of torque.
