The public debut of the newest sports car signed by Mercedes, the AMG GT, has been recently made during the 2014 Paris Motor Show.
Originally unveiled almost a month ago, the Mercedes-AMG GT is one of the most awaited vehicles of the end of this year. The model in question is the second supercar to be developed by AMG, after the SLS AMG, which is also its predecessor, despite being larger, more expensive and more powerful. The AMG GT is lighter and smaller and also cheaper, being intended to fight against one of the biggest names on the market, the Porsche 911 Turbo, along with some variants of the Jaguar F-Type.
The AMG GT is coming with 19-inch wheels, wrapped in 255/35 and 295/35 tires, front to rear, while its more expensive version, the GT-S, has 20-inch wheels, with 295/30 tires. The cabin is getting some of the latest enhancements, including the Mercedes Command connected to a touch sensitive controller, which is mounted on the central console. Standard safety features will be borrowed from the S-Class and the official starting price of the model will stand somewhere at 120,000 euros.
Power to the Mercedes-AMG GT is being provided by the newly developed 4.0 liter V8 twin turbo engine. The unit is capable of 462 HP (339 kW) and 600 Nm (442 lb-ft) of torque in standard and 510 HP (375 kW) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque in the AMG GT-S. The 0 to 100 km/h sprint takes just 3.8 seconds and top speed stands at 310 km/h (193 mph).
