Paris Motor Show LIVE: MINI Paceman and JCW GP unveiled

The Paceman and the John Cooper Works GP have been officially presented to the public by MINI at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.

The MINI Paceman has been brought to the 2012 Paris Motor Show by the British based automaker and the model is offering a choice of two gasoline engines and two diesels. The base version of the model will get a 1.6 liter four-cylinder under its hood and the Cooper Paceman S will feature a turbocharged unit with 184 horsepower. On the diesel side, the two-door coupe will be powered by a 2.0 liter turbocharged unit, with 143 HP and 225 lb-ft of torque in the Cooper SD Paceman while on the Cooper D Paceman the same engine will be available with a lower output. All units come with a six-speed manual transmission and the ALL4 AWD system is also available for the model.

Besides the MINI Paceman, the car manufacturer has also brought the JCW (John Cooper Works) GP to the same French automotive event. The model is getting a race suspension, a new chassis and aerodynamic elements unique to the GP branding which will help it stand out from a crowd. Under the hood, the MINI John Cooper Works GP is coming with a 1.6 liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine, producing 218 HP and a peak of 207 lb-ft torque. The 0 to 62 mph acceleration takes just 6.3 seconds. Only 2,000 units of the JCW GP will be available worldwide, including the U.S. lineup.
