Mitsubishi has brought the XR-PHEV Concept to the 2014 Paris Motor Show but the trick is that this has been first introduced back in 2013, at the Tokyo Motor Show.
Mitsubishi is apparently incapable of bringing new models to its lineup and in between creating a new generation of the Outlander, which is not that appreciated, or pulling the plug on the next Evo, the company is trying to promote itself with the help of old concept vehicles. One of these is the XR-PHEV Concept, which has been first seen at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show and it was now brought, for no obvious reason, to the Paris Motor Show.
This was supposed to offer a preview of the next ASX generation but since it has been unveiled a year ago, chances are we won’t get to see a new ASX earlier than 2015 or even 2016. Who knows, maybe Mitsubishi will change its mind and decide that the ASX should lay near the next Evo. The XR-PHEV is 75 mm longer, 100 mm wider and 55 mm lower than the ASX and it has a 1.1 liter turbocharged 3-cylinder petrol engine under its hood, rated at 100 kW, backed up by a 120 kW electric motor and a 14 kWh battery.
