Paris Motor Show LIVE: The new 300-hp Audi S3

The new Audi S3 is a highly anticipated model among sport enthusiasts, and the Ingolstadt-based automaker has definitely thought about them when developing the new model.

Powered by a 300-horsepower version of the 2.0-liter TFSI gasoline engine which was developed from scratch, the new S3 is capable of sports car performance.

The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h takes just 5,1 seconds (with the S-tronic auto gearbox), while top speed is limited to 250 km/h. These figures are in part due to the generous torque of 380 Nm, available between 1,800 and 5,500 rpm. Of course, the quattro 4WD system also helps the S3 put the power down as efficiently as possible.

Speaking of efficiency, the new S3 has a declared average fuel consumption of 6,9 liters/100 km for the S tronic version (7 liters for the manual). The car is fitted as standard with a six-speed manual transmission, with the six-speed S tronic automatic gearbox available as an option.

The dynamic character of the car is obvious in its styling as well. The 2013 Audi S3 sports the S-specific single-frame grille with an aluminum-look finish and a newly designed bumper with aluminum-look double ribs. Both elements contribute to an aggressive „face”, while the aluminum-look exterior mirrors and the pronounced side sills dominate the side view.

The rear bumper has also been redesigned, with the platinum gray diffuser housing the exhaust system’s four oval tailpipes with chrome tips. A large roof spoiler generates downforce on the rear axle, while S badges adorn the rear and the single-frame grille.

The car will arrive at dealerships in early 2013, with the base price in Germany being set at €38,900.
