The luxury German automaker is kicking off its own green page during the French event – just like Volkswagen with its I.D concept – through a new all-electric crossover concept with 402 hp and a range of up to 310 miles – or 50 km.
The Generation EQ concept is a Generation EQ concept that will serve as the preview for the company’s upcoming electric range. The model appears to be a futuristic GLC, and has a sleek body with a dynamic side profile. There are hidden windscreen wipers and side cameras in lieu of conventional mirrors, as well as no door handles. The 21-inch alloy wheels steer our attention towards the “alubeam silver” hue and blue accents or massive panoramic roof.
The high tech and futuristic interior is minimalist and has a wide 24-inch digital instrument cluster and secondary display on the center stack. The touch-sensitive screens are everywhere in place of physical buttons and knobs. The three-spoke steering wheel also has a couple of OLED screens, with the concept also using the newly acquired HERE mapping solution – the satellite navigation system works together with the newest batch of safety and assistance systems, even providing rerouting alternatives when the battery is dangerously low.
Power comes from two electric motors fitted to both axles for all-wheel drive and a combined output of 300 kilowatts (402 horsepower) and 700 Newton-meters (516 pound-feet) of torque – good for a sprint to 62 mph (100 km/h) in no more than five seconds. The floor battery provides a range of up to 500 kilometers (310 miles) and has fast-charging capabilities.
