The leaked patent images revealing a Jaguar model were actually showing the C-X16 Concept and not the F-Type Coupe.
The British based automaker Jaguar has recently announced that the leaked patent images, which everyone thought they were showing the coupe version of the F-Type, were actually revealing the C-X16 Concept. The announcement has been made by a Jaguar spokesman, who told Autocar that the images in question are from August 2011, when the carmaker filed for the patent. But in the meantime, a coupe version of the F-Type is inevitable, so expect to see it over the following months or sometimes next year.
As a quick reminder, the Jaguar C-X16 Concept has been officially unveiled during the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. The model is a 2-seat rear-wheel drive coupe which is 4,445 mm long, 2,048 mm wide and 1,297 mm tall, riding on a 2,622 mm wheelbase. Power to the concept was being provided by a 3.0L V6 engine, which pas good for 375 HP (280 kW) and 450 Nm of torque (332 lb-ft). The unit was mated to an eight-speed transmission with an integrated motor generator. The C-X16 Concept could accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds before reaching a top speed of 300 km/h (186 mph).
