The Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance is already upon us and here McLaren has deep ties since back in 2012 it decided to launch at the US event the McLaren Special Operations unit.
For this year’s edition, the British exotic automaker has decided to have a different take on its latest supercar – the 570GT. So, the MSO experts also kicked in to showcase their acquired expertise by delivering a host of mechanical and visual upgrades. For the appetizer, the regular stainless steel exhaust system has been exchanged for a titanium one that will incur a 30 percent fat loss. Of course, besides being lighter, the new exhaust also changes the soundtrack to make sure no one will mistake the car for a standard 570GT. The MSO Exhaust is inspired by the one for the sold-out 675LT and has special heat shields featuring a golden titanium nitride tint.
This prototype will also shine due to its exquisite paint job – nicknamed ‘Elite Pearl White’, which has been assorted with deep gloss black accents on the side skirts, door inserts, wheels, and also in the cockpit. MSO also opted for an electro-chromic roof – it comes with an electro-chromic interlayer to the car’s standard glass roof consisting of an UV-protective interlayer. The lucky ones inside will be able to play with it via a touch-sensitive headliner delivering five settings, ranging from crystal clear to dark tinted. MSO also added a set of gloss carbon fiber side sills, a carbon fiber interior pack with gloss lacquer finish and a Saddle Tan finish to the cabin – which also holds a 12-speaker Bowers and Wilkins Hi-Fi system. By the way, it appears this MSO Concept is not just for show, because a series of optional goodies taken from it will become available soon through the brand’s catalogue.
