The newest model in Peugeot’s lineup, the small crossover named 2008, has recently leaked in a British publication.
After the Peugeot 2008 has been just a rumor, in late 2011, the new model is close to hitting the production line and even if we didn’t have a clue of what this might look like, until now, we always knew that it will target models like the popular Nissan Juke, the Ford EcoSport, based on the Fiesta, or the Opel Corsa based SUV, which is named the Mokka. According to the guys at AutoExpress magazine, the Peugeot 2008 is coming with a choice of 1.3 e-HDi and 1.6 e-HDi diesel engines, both of them fitted with the stop/start system, which will be emitting just under 100 g of CO2 every km.
Petrol engines which will join the lineup are the three-cylinder 1.0 liter unit, with 68 BHP, along with the 1.2 liter VTi, the 1.4 liter VTi and the larger 1.6 liter VTi, turbocharged, which will be offering 156 BHP. A hybrid version of the Peugeot 2008 is also on its way, and rather than using a petrol engine and an electric motor, this one will use a diesel-electric system, the same one used on the 3008 Hybrid4. The Peugeot 2008 is actually based on the new 208 hatchback, and the model is expected to go on sale in 2014.
