The French based automaker Peugeot has recently announced that a 208 based SUV will soon hit the market under the 2008 name.
Peugeot is getting ready to compete on a whole new level with its main rivals, taking the hatchback battle to a new segment, where small SUVs are keep hitting the market at low costs after being based on their hatch brothers. After Nissan has revealed the Juke quite a while ago, the Japanese supremacy in the segment is just about to shatter because Opel has announced a Corsa based SUV named the Mokka and now the turn of the French came, with their latest creation, the Peugeot 208 based SUV which will be known as the 2008.
According to the French website news.autoplus.fr, Peugeot is preparing a 208 based SUV, the 2008, which, unlike its bigger brother the 4008 being based on the Mitsubishi ASX, will have a lot in common with the small hatchback. The upcoming Peugeot 2008 will take on the Nissan Juke and the German model Mokka which will be made by Opel, so even if there aren’t any official details on the model yet, the price tag is expected to stand below 20.000 EUR, just like its rivals. Besides the 2008, Peugeot has another surprise, the 208 hatchback won’t receive a station wagon version like its older brothers, the 207 and the 206, because no model was successful.
