In the latest set of Euro NCAP results, the new Peugeot 208 has received Euro NCAP’s maximum five star rating.
The 208 is the first car in its segment to obtain 5 stars, which is the highest rating possible.
The passenger compartment of the 208 remained stable in the frontal impact. Dummy readings indicated good protection of the knees and femurs of the driver and passenger, Euro NCAP said.
In the frontal impact, forward movement of the head of the 3 year dummy, sat in a forward facing restraint, was not excessive.
The bumper provided good protection to pedestrians and the car scored maximum points in this area. The front edge of the bonnet was at best marginal in the protection offered to pedestrians.
Starting with the Access trim entry level model, the 208 is equipped as standard with a high level of equipment: ABS, ESP, six airbags, rear Isofix fixings, speed limiter, front seat belt warning, collapsible steering column, and more.
Its structure also contributes to occupant protection: aluminium absorption beam, very high strength steel (VHSS) and ultra-high strength steel (UHSS) panels.
