Peugeot 208 GTI and 208 XY unveiled ahead of Paris debut image

Peugeot has just unveiled the 208 GTI and the 208 XY production versions ahead of their official debut later on this month at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.

After starting their lives as concepts in March at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, the two models are being placed into the spotlights once more ahead of their public debut as production version at the Paris Motor Show, this time with the French based automaker unveiled them and announcing some official details.

Peugeot has announced that the 207 GTI has lost 165 kg (363 pounds) compared to the 207 GTI and the model is getting a 1.6 liter turbo engine, which is producing a total output of 197 HP and 203 lb-ft of torque, 22 HP mopre than the 207 GTI. The unit is mated to a six-speed manual transmission and it’s getting a revised suspension, firmer steering, anti-roll bar and all of these changes help its 0 to 62 mph sprint to be made in under 7 seconds.

Besides the 207 GTI, Peugeot will also bring to Paris the production version of the 208 XY, which will wear the same name. the model will get the Purple Night shade and five other exterior colors, along with chromed ornaments for the side windows, chromed rim caps, chromed front grille, chromed surrounds for the fog lights, ornaments for the roof and 17-inch alloy wheels. Under the hood it will receive the 1.6 e-HDi with 92 HP and 115 HP, the 1.6 VTi with 120 HP and the 1.6 THP with 155 HP.
