The French based automaker Peugeot is planning to reveal a hot GTi version of the new 208 model, which will actually have a lot of things in common with the classic 205 GTi.
Peugeot is planning to revive its iconic GTi for quite some time now and this 208 model, which will receive the GTi treatment, isn’t such a big surprise, but what actually comes as a surprise is the image above, provided by the guys at autoexpress.co.uk. According to our source, the Peugeot 208 GTi will be offered with a choice of power outputs, just like its predecessor, the 205 GTi, and the tamer version is expected to be powered by a 1.6 liter turbo engine, generating a total output of 181 horsepower, which will allow the model to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in less then 7 seconds, while returning an average of 50 mpg.
The guys at autoexpress.co.uk are also saying that the 208 GTi’s cabin will get the GTi badges, sports seats and some other upgrades, while the exterior design will differentiate through a new body kit, bigger alloy wheels and larger fog lights. A twin-exhaust system, along with a roof spoiler, will also be added to the model. The upcoming Peugeot 208 GTi will battle models like the Renaultsport Clio or the Ford Fiesta ST, and the model might actually make its debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.
