Peugeot is planning to launch its latest hot hatch, the 208 GTI, in Australia, this August.
The Peugeot 208 GTI is the French based automaker’s answer to models like the Renault Clio RS, the Ford Fiesta ST, the Opel Corsa OPC or the Volkswagen Polo GTI, amongst others, and the Australian market is now getting ready to receive the popular hot hatch. According to the guys at Car Advice, the new Peugeot 208 GTI is expected to make its way onto the local market in August, where the model is expected to attract both traditionalists and also new buyers into the brand.
As a quick reminder, the Peugeot 208 GTI is now coming with an anti-roll bar and a different suspension system. The model in question has lost 165 kg (363 pounds) compared to the regular version of the 208 and it’s powered by a 1.6 liter turbocharged engine, which is producing a total output of 197 HP, and it has a peak torque of 203 lb-ft. The unit is mated to a six-speed manual transmission which is allowing the model to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 7 seconds.
