Peugeot 208 GTI to start at over 25,000 euros

The French based automaker Peugeot is planning to launch the 208 GTI in Europe next year, where the model will become available from 25,690 euros.

After the Peugeot 208 GTI was unveiled back in March as a Concept during the 2012 Geneva Motor Show and with the final production version being officially presented to the public a couple of months ago during the 2012 Paris Motor Show, the French hot hatch is being placed into the spotlights once again, this time with the carmaker planning to launch the model in Europe. Prices for the Peugeot 208 GTI on the Old Continent will be set at 25,690 euros and the model is expected to be launched here in the third quarter of 2013.

The Peugeot 208 GTI has lost 165 kg (363 pounds) after a long diet and the hot hatch is now powered by a 1.6 liter turbo engine, which is producing a total output of 197 horsepower and it has a peak torque of 203 lb-ft, 22 HP more than the 207 GTI. The unit is mated to a six-speed manual transmission and the model has been fitted with a firmer steering system, an anti-roll bar and a different suspension. The 0 to 62 mph acceleration is over in less than 7 seconds.
