Peugeot has recently announced the launch of the 208 GTI in Australia, where the B-segment hot hatch will set you back for at least 29,990 AUD.
According to the French based automaker, the Peugeot 208 GTI is now available for order in Australia from 29,990 AUD. For the money, future owners of the model will get standard equipment such as the heated electrically foldable door mirrors, auto dipping rearview mirror, cruise control, dual-zone climate control, leather/cloth seat trim, seven-inch touch screen display for the satellite navigation system, fog lights, 17-inch alloy wheels and some other tweaks which should make the model more attractive to its future customers.
The Peugeot 208 GTI is powered by a 1.6 liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which is producing total output of 147 kW and it has a peak torque of 275 Nm. The unit is mated to a six-speed manual transmission which is allowing the 1,160 three-door hot hatch to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.8 seconds. The average fuel consumption in the B-segment hot hatch stands at 5.9L / 100km. Peugeot says that the 208 GTI is targeting 35- to 50-year old men with no kids and a high household income of 150,000 AUD, who have a passion for driver oriented sports cars.
