Peugeot 3008 – made in China

Being officially presented for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show, the Peugeot 3008 with its strange body which appears to be a combination between an MPV and a compact crossover will start production in China from next year.

For the Peugeot 3008 on the European auto market customers can choose from 9 engine versions, starting with the 1.6 VTi unit which is developing 120 HP and 160 Nm, mated to a manual transmission, and ending with the 2.0 HDi of 163 horsepower and 340 Nm of torque, with its automatic gearbox.

The 3008 has relatively high prices compared to the SUVs found on the Chinese market, with a starting price of 240.000rmb for the base 1.6 turbo model and it has a serious competition in Honda CRV, which is a 10.000rmb cheaper.

The Peugeot 3008 has been launched in China earlier this year and its scheduled to be manufactured in the Asian country from 2012, however the plant on which the compact SUV will hit the production line hasn’t been officially announced.
