Peugeot is planning on introducing the hot hatch version of the new generation of the 308, the 308 GTI, sometimes in 2015.
The development of a Peugeot 308 GTI isn’t such a big surprise anymore as the model in question has been rumored ever since the new 308 generation has been introduced, but it seems that with each passing month, the model is being left aside. Not anymore, because according to a recent report, published by the guys from Auto Express, the model in question is believed to be introduced sometimes in 2015 and this will become the brand’s most powerful road car ever.
The 2016 Peugeot 308 GTI is believed to get a 1.6 liter turbo petrol unit under its hood, which will be producing a total output of 270 HP (201 kW). This is actually the same engine used on the RCZ R and it will be connected to a 6-speed manual transmission, sending power to the front wheels. The unit is believed to be equipped with a new turbo, a crankcase and modified exhaust. Besides this, the hot hatch will also get the updated suspension and brakes and a Torsen limited slip differential. More details on it remain unknown for the moment.
