Peugeot will be officially pulling the wraps off a high-performance version of the 308, the 308 GTI, during the 2015 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
After winning the Car of the Year award in 2014, the Peugeot 308 is planning to become even hotter and this will happen with the addition of a hot hatch version, the 308 GTI. The model in question will be officially presented to the public this year, during the Goodwood Festival of Speed, and it was announced in a press release.
“The Moving Motor Show is all about giving our visitors the chance to see concepts and premieres ahead of anyone else and it will be marvelous to have the world debut of its new Peugeot 308 performance model here at Goodwood this month”, said Lord March, the Goodwood Festival of Speed and Moving Motor Show founder.
The vehicle has been already previewed by a concept car and it will be going up against models such as the Volkswagen Golf GTI, the Ford Focus ST or the Renaultsport Megane, amongst others. Chances are it will be getting a sport-tuned suspension system, better brakes, some tweaks made to the cabin and, of course, a more aggressive aerodynamic body kit. Rumor has it that the 1.6 liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine will be used under its hood and this will be capable of putting down a total output of 270 HP (198 kW). Besides the 308 GTI, the carmaker will also introduce the 308 R HYbrid at the same automotive event, along with the 308 GT, the 208 GTI, the 2008 DKR and the 208 WRX.
