The newest creation signed by Peugeot is called the 308 R HYbrid and it is a super hatchback coming with as much as 500 HP from its powertrain.
After the 308 R Concept has been shown a couple of years ago, time has come for Peugeot to officially pull the wraps off the 308 R HYbrid. The model in question is sharing some of the design features with the Quartz Concept, including the aggressive styling with the widened fenders, the large air intakes and the 19-inch wheels.
Four driving modes are available for this car, the Hot Lap, providing full potential of the hybrid system, the Track mode, with 400 HP (294 kW) and 530 Nm (391 lb-ft), mostly from the petrol engine, the Road mode, coming with 300 HP (220 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque and the ZEV, which is making use of the rear electric motor, with the front one coming into play if the throttle will be pressed hard.
The new Peugeot 308 R HYbrid is coming with a plug-in hybrid powertrain which is combining three sources of power, each of them capable of moving the vehicle independently from the others. There is a 1.6 liter THP petrol engine and two electric motors, each with 115 HP (85 kW) mounted on each axle and providing a four-wheel drive. The total output stands at a whopping 500 HP (368 kW) and 730 Nm (539 lb-ft) of torque. The 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint takes just 4.0s and top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph). The CO2 emissions stop at 70 g/km.
