Peugeot is planning to introduce a hot hatch version of the award winning 308, called the 308 R.
The French based automaker Peugeot will link its motorsport and road car activities with brand new models and one of these will be the 308 R, a hot hatch which is believed to make its way onto the market soon. The company’s motorsport division, Peugeot Sport, will be in charge of the development of the 308 R, as this is also creating the RCZ R. The new hot hatch is also believed to attempt to break the Nurburgring record and this means that it will compete against the Seat Leon Cupra or the updated Renault Megane RS Trophy.
The Peugeot 308 R has been already previewed by a concept car, wearing the same name, which had a 1.6 liter four-cylinder high-performance engine under its hood, which was rated at 270 HP. The unit has been seen in the RCZ R too. The production version is said to get updated suspension, bigger brakes and possibly some carbon fiber panels, to help keep its weight down. The Peugeot 308 R is rumored to make its way onto the market sometimes next year. More details on it remain unknown for the moment.
