Based on the Mitsubishi ASX, Peugeot 4008 will be officially unveiled during the Frankfurt Motor Show this year in September.
Rumors of manufacturing a French model based on the popular Mitsubishi ASX were confirmed by a Peugeot official from Australia, Kirin Tipping, who said that a compact crossover will be presented this autumn.
According to the manufacturer, the ASX from Mitsubishi will also get “new brothers” in Citroen too, besides Peugeot, following the examples of C-Zero or i-MiEV electric vehicles or the Outlander, 4007 and C-Crosser SUVs.
The first PSA member to benefit from the agreement will be Peugeot, with the crossover being inspired by the HR1 concept presented at the Paris Motor Show last year.
Under the 4008’s hood customers will be able to choose from Japanese petrol 2.0 liter engines or French 1.6 HDi diesel, which could benefit from the start-stop system.
With the Peugeot 4008 keeping its name, the 4007 will be renamed with the launching of the new generation and the Outlander based SUV will be known as 6008.
