Peugeot 408 launched in Malaysia – starts at RM109,888 image

The French based automaker Peugeot has launched the 408 sedan in Malaysia, where the entry-level version has been priced at RM109, 888.

After it was teased, spied and then announced for the Asian country, the Peugeot 408 is once again being placed into the spotlights, this time with the company launching it in Malaysia. According to the car manufacturer, the Peugeot 408 Turbo has a starting price of RM125,888 and the Peugeot 408 2.0 costs RM109,888, on the road, with insurance. Both versions have 17-inch wheels but wrapped in different tires, 225/45 Melbourne for the Turbo and 215/50 Rinjani for the 2.0.

In terms of safety, the new Peugeot 408 is coming with EBA, EBD and ABS, along with driver, front passenger, side, front and rear curtain airbags, ESP, ASR and DSC (Dynamic Stability Control). The 408 has a large cabin with premium leather seats, 33 liters of storage space inside, an automatic dual-zone air conditioning system with rear AC vents, aluminum inserts, six-speaker World in Peugeot Sound system with CD/MP3, USB, Bluetooth, LCD instrument panel, tilt and telescopic steering, one-touch power windows with anti-pinch, Follow Me Home headlamp functionality, cruise control with speed limiter, automatic retractable side mirrors, rain sensing wipers and many other interesting features.

The new Peugeot 408 is 4,68m long, 1,815 mm wide, 1,525 mm tall and it has a wheelbase of 2,710 mm long. 562 liters of boot space are available and the rear seats can be folded in a 40/60 split in order to create extra loading / carrying space.

Under the hood, the Peugeot 408 2.0 has a naturally aspirated 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine, which is developing 145 HP at 6,000 rpm and 200 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm, mated to an AT8 auto adaptive transmission. The 0 to 100 km/h acceleration is done in 12.5 seconds and the model can achieve a top speed of 195 km/h. The 408 Turbo gets a Prince 1.6 liter THP twin scroll turbo engine, which is generating 163 HP at 6,000 rpm and 240 Nm of torque at 1,400 rpm, which, according to the manufacturer, helps the model to become the most powerful C-segment sedan in the local market.
