The French based automaker Peugeot has relaunched the 508 model, in five new versions, in Malaysia, and the cheapest model has a starting price of RM169,888.
After being official revealed last year in Malaysia, the Peugeot 508 is once again being placed into the spotlights in the Asian country, where the model has been recently relaunched, in five versions. According to the car manufacturer, the current 508 is now known as the 508 Premium and, besides this, the 508 Standard, the 508 SW, the 508 GT and the 508 SW GT have been introduced.
The HDi powered Peugeot 508 models, in the GT spec, are equipped with the modern 2.2 liter FAP diesel engine, which is developing a total output of 204 HP at 3,500 rpm and it has a peak torque of 450 Nm, available from 2,000 rpm. The engine is providing good flexibility, a strong pulling power and a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration of just 8.4 seconds, with a top speed of 235 km/h. The petrol burner affects the fuel economy and this is a familiar unit, the 150 HP and 240 Nm of torque 1.6 liter twin-scroll turbo, which is allowing the models to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.2 seconds before reaching a top speed of 220 km/h.
Peugeot is saying that the SW versions are sharing the same wheelbase with the sedan, which is 2,817 mm, but the overall length has increased by 21 mm, in the rear overhang. The load height in the station wagon is 88 mm lower than the one in the sedan which means that cargo can be lifted in more easily and the tailgate is being closed at the touch of a button.
The entry-level version of the Peugeot 508 in Malaysia is getting standard features such as six airbags, Hill Start Assist, EBD with BA, ABS, ESP, bi-xenon headlamps with auto leveling and washers, LED daytime running lights, front and rear parking sensors, automatic wipers for the windscreen and headlights, USB / Bluetooth connectivity, eight-way electric front seats, steering wheel controls or paddles and many more.
The Premium version is adding a JBL 10-speaker audio system with a 500W subwoofer, keyless entry with push start, premium leather seats, four-zone air conditioning, electric parking brake, an LCD and many more, while the GT is coming with extra Nappa brown leather upholstery plus massage and memory function for the electric seats.
