The HX1 Concept previewed at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show has been so successful that the Peugeot officials have decided to “throw” it at the production line where it will come off as the 608, but those of you interested in the new vehicle will have to wait until 2014 to get your hands on it.
According to Autobild.de, the Peugeot HX1 Concept will hit the production line as the 608 and the model will be launched in 2014, probably as a direct competitor to the Mercedes-Benz R-Class, with a price worthy of its looks of approximately 55.000 EUR or 75.710 USD.
No official details have been announced yet about its powerplants but a variety of diesels ranging between 160 and 270 horsepower are expected, along with a hybrid version which might develop around 200 horsepower.
The Peugeot HX1 Concept previewed earlier this year was powered by a 2.2 liter HDi diesel engine with 201 HP which was moving the front wheels, while the electric motor with its 95 HP was sending power to the rear wheels, to a total output of 299 HP.
The HX1 Concept was burning just 3.2 liters of fuel every 100 km in an average cycle which translates to 88 mpg in the UK or 73.5 mpg in the US.
