Peugeot has recently announced the production increase of the second-gen 308 due to strong demand in the popular hatchback.
The new generation of the Peugeot 308 seems to be a huge hit for PSA Peugeot Citroen, especially since the model in question has received the 2014 European Car of the Year award and production for the model will be increased due to strong demand, at the Sochaux plant.
“The Group has already taken 60,000 orders for the new Peugeot 308, which was launched in the fall of 2013. With the European Car of the Year award and the upcoming introduction of the 308 SW station wagon, the Sochaux plant will be increasing its output”, said the carmaker in its official press release.
Peugeot is also assembling the new 308 SW, the 508, the 3008 and the DS5 at the same Sochaux plant, besides the new five-door hatchback 308, and the current factory has 10,800 workers with a permanent contract and 600 with a temporary contract. The daily output of the 308 and 308 SW will be increased by 180 units, to a total of 1,563 cars, by adding 600 more employees, 450 of them on temporary contracts.
