A GTI version of the new generation of the 308 is planned by the French based automaker to hit the market sometimes next year.
Spy photos of a hotter beefed up version of the new Peugeot 308 generation have already surfaced so the development of such a model isn’t a surprise for anyone anymore, but what comes as something new is that the first details on the hot hatch are starting to emerge. The new Peugeot 308 GTI is believed to make its way onto the market sometimes in 2014, which means that it will have the 2015 model year in its name.
The vehicle in question should get a lowered suspension with stiffer springs and dampers and larger shocks, some high performance braking system, a revised steering system and a new body kit, along with some 19-inch alloy wheels, which should help the model stand out from a crowd. The Peugeot 308 GTI will come with approximately 250 HP (186 kW), while an even hotter version, the top of the line 308 R, should produce 270 HP (201 kW) and 330 Nm of torque (243 lb-ft), from a 1.6 liter THP engine. Additional details on the model remain unknown for the moment.
