The French based automaker Peugeot is planning to introduce a convertible version of the 208 hatchback as the model in question will make its public debut sometimes next year.
After revealing the 208 hatchback, the 208 GTI and the 2008 crossover, Peugeot is getting ready to increase its family with a brand new model, the 208 Cabrio. The announcement hasn’t been made official just yet and it’s actually part of a report published by the guys at Caradisiac. Our source is saying that the model in question will come with a soft-top roof, unlike its predecessors, the 206 CC and the 207 CC, and this means a lighter car and a smaller development cost.
The triple-layered soft tops produced today provide the same noise insulation and this will also help differentiate the 208 Cabrio from the DS3 Cabrio. The roof of the new Peugeot 208 Cabrio will be operated automatically and this basically means that the boot will be smaller in order to accommodate the top. The engine lineup in the drop-top and in the hatchback will be identical, including the GTI version, with its 200 HP. The Peugeot 208 Cabrio is believed to make its public debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, next fall.
