The French based automaker is planning to develop a special edition of the 208, which will be named the Pikes Peak.
Peugeot will celebrate Sebastien Loeb’s record setting run in the 208 T16 Pikes Peak racer earlier this year with a special edition of the 208 GTI. The model in question will be named the Peugeot 208 GTI Pikes Peak Edition and it will gain a lot of updates which should make it popular amongst fans of the B-segment hatchback. The vehicle should receive a new body kit, new rims, some tweaks in the cabin and more.
The Peugeot 208 GTI Pikes Peak will be powered by a 1.6 liter turbocharged engine, which should produce a total output of 220 – 230 HP (162 – 169 kW), which will represent 20 – 30 HP (15 – 22 kW) more than the standard car. This should allow the hot hatch to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 7 seconds, before reaching a top speed of 225 km/h (140 mph). Additional details on the subject are limited for the moment and will probably be announced close to its unveil, over the following months.
