The German based automaker Mercedes-Benz has just unveiled the 2013 SL65 AMG, ahead of its official debut at the 2012 New York Auto Show in April.
After the 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG came into focus with the car manufacturer announcing its official presentation at the New York Auto Show next month, the model is once again highlighted, this time with the company revealing it. According to the carmaker, the 2013 SL65 AMG will be the first model to wear the AMG face on its front fascia and it has been described as an intelligent lightweight construction that has managed to knock off 170 kg off the kerb weight.
“The combination of exclusive V12 dynamic performance and a refined roadster driving experience was already the defining attribute of the predecessor model. We are convinced that, with the new SL65 AMG, we have developed an incomparably exciting high-performance vehicle for the small, but loyal community of fans”, said the Mercedes-AMG GmbH CEO, Ola Kallenius.
The all-new Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG is powered by a 6.2 liter V12 biturbo engine, which is developing a total output of 621 horsepower and an electronically limited peak torque of 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft), mated to the AMG Speedshift Plus 7G-Tronic transmission which is coming in four driving modes, “C” (Efficiency), “S” (Sport), “S+” (Sport Plus) and “M” (Manual).
The model can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4 seconds, before hitting a limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph) and the SL65 AMG is 17% more fuel efficient, at 11.6 liters burned every 100 km. The Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG will be launched in Germany in September, for a starting price of 236,334 euros.
