The “e-tron” name is becoming even more popular within Audi and after the German based automaker has shown its R8 e-tron at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, the Ingolstadt manufacture has decided to place the same badge on the all new A3 and name it the A3 e-tron Concept.
According to Audi, the A3 e-tron has a continuous output of 82 horsepower (60 kW) and a total output of 136 horsepower (100 kW), with a peak torque of 270 Nm or 200 lb-ft. Power is sent to the front wheels through a single-speed transmission and the vehicle has a total range of around 140 km (87 miles) on a single battery charge.
Audi says that the A3 e-tron concept can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in 11.2 seconds, with a top speed of 145 km/h or 90 mph. The driver can choose between sporty or economical driving and can switch between three modes of operation: dynamic, auto and efficiency, as well as four settings which can adjust the degree of energy recovery during braking and coasting phases.
The interior of the A3 e-tron concept is borrowed from the production models and the seat covers are made of an Alcantara / leather blend. The heated windshield is kept free of condensation and ice while heating the interior is being done more efficiently than a conventional climate-control system, as Audi says.
