McLaren has recently announced that the new model in the MP4-12C family, the 12C Spider, is available for its future customers at the company’s retailers across the globe.
After it was officially announced a few days ago, the all-new McLaren 12C Spider is finally here and the British based automaker has released official images and details with the drop-top version of the MP4-12C. According to the car manufacturer, the McLaren 12C Spider is available for its future customers at the company’s retailers across the globe and in the United Kingdom, the model has a starting price of 195,500 pounds.
“I am really excited to announce that the new 12C Spider is now available to order at new McLaren retailers worldwide. The launch of our second model is an exciting milestone in the growth of our company”, said the McLaren Automotive managing director, Antony Sheriff.
The McLaren MP4-12C Spider is getting the same 3.8 liter twin turbo V8 engine as its solid roof brother, which is developing a total output of 625 PS, sent to the rear-wheel drive through a seven-speed SSG dual-clutch transmission. The 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration is done in 3.1 seconds (the same as the MP4-12C) and the 0 to 160 km/h (100 mph) acceleration is over in 6.1 seconds (6.0 for the MP4-12C). The new 12C Spider can do a quarter mile in 10.8 seconds at a top speed of 216 km/h (134 mph) and it can reach a top speed of 329 km/h (204 mph) (333 km/h / 207 mph in the MP4-12C).
McLaren says that the 12C Spider is burning an average of 11.7 liters of fuel every 100 km (24.2 mpg EU), the same as the MP4-12C, while the CO2 emissions stop at 270 g/km, again, the same as its solid roof brother. The McLaren 12C Spider is now available at 38 McLaren retailers in 22 countries across the globe and first deliveries have been planned for November, this year.
