Opel has just revealed its new generation of the Astra GTC compact model, ahead of its Frankfurt Motor Show debut, which will hit the European showrooms this autumn.
As you are probably used to, the GTC has a different exterior design compared to its bigger brother and according to Opel not even one body panel is identical to the five-door Astra, except the side mirrors.
When talking about technology, the new Astra GTC is coming with the second generation of the Opel Eye system, which can also measure the distance to the front vehicle and automatically adjust the lights. Other “gadgets” found on the next generation of the three-door Astra are also present on the new Zafira model.
The new Opel Astra GTC will be powered by three petrol and one diesel, the 2.0 CDTI delivering 165 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque while emitting just 129g of CO2 per kilometer, the 1.4 Turbo in two variants, 120 and 140 horsepower and the larger 1.6 Turbo with 180 HP.
Opel will also launch an OPC version of the new Astra GTC by the end of the year, but until then, speed addicts will have to settle with the 1.6 liter version.
The new Opel / Vauxhall Astra GTC will be officially presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
